Welcome to the June issue of the Latest at Linder!  It's been a busy spring here at L&A.  We traveled around the country partnering with our clients on exciting programs in Nashville, New Orleans, Austin, Chicago and more.  In addition, we had the distinct honor of working on projects here in Washington that not only celebrated the nation's capital and spring's arrival, they took advantage of the great outdoors.  Most importantly, these events raised unprecedented funds for noble causes ...
National Cherry Blossom Festival
Family Day, Opening Ceremony & Parade
Costume1L&A has been a longtime partner and sponsor of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and was once again the chosen planner for the Family Day and Opening Ceremony for the fourth year in a row.  In addition, L&A assisted in the production of the Parade for the first time this year - a hallmark of the start of spring in the city.  The Festival kicked off with over 10,000 guests enjoying interactive activities and displays with two stages of on-going entertainment at the National Building Museum.  The day culminated with the Opening Ceremony featuring everything from international dignitaries and representatives from local government to entertainment and celebrities.  In partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival team, L&A then had the honor of executing the locally televised National Cherry Blossom Festival ParadeĈ that signals the end of the 16-day festival.  With 100,000 spectators and 3,500 participants, L&A's strategic approach was key in managing the production, permitting, television coordination and overall logistics.  Through close work with the National Park Service, United States Park Police, Metropolitan Police Department, title sponsors, television stations, and international entertainers and dignitaries, the events were a success from all perspectives.  To learn more about the National Cherry Blossom Festival, please visit their website: www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org.
Trust for the National Mall
Benefit Luncheon & Ball on the Mall
Costume1The Trust for the National Mall's mission is to make the National Mall the best park in the world.  L&A was honored to work with them to achieve the organization's goal at their annual Benefit Luncheon and Ball on the Mall in May.  Tasked with the logistics and continuing the trajectory for making these events among Washington's most distinctive celebrations, L&A's involvement allowed the Trust to focus on raising record-breaking funds.  We created a fresh, modern look while managing the production for both events, including working with the National Park Service, the United States Park Police and the District government to see that all guidelines and permit requirements were being adhered to.  Simultaneously, the team overcame the logistical challenges of creating a spectacular event in a locale with no existing infrastructure.  Over 800 guests, many in stunning hats, enjoyed cocktails followed by an elegant seated luncheon with spectacular views of the Washington Monument and Capitol - a treat for even the most seasoned Washingtonian.  The Ball on the Mall followed just two days later with a seated dinner followed by lively dessert and dancing for over 600 guests who filled the dance floor.  But most importantly, the Trust was able to exceed their financial goals and continue their amazing work preserving the National Mall.  To learn more about the Trust for the National Mall, please visit www.nationalmall.org.
Home Runs for Horton's Kids
BandAs a long time strategic partner and supporter of Horton's Kids, L&A was eager to knock it out of the park and create an evening of fun to benefit this worthy organization at the annual Home Runs for Horton's Kids fundraiser.  Guests rallied behind the cause and raised a record amount of funds to ensure Horton's Kids continues their important work mentoring youth in one of the most underserved areas of the city.  The private night at National's Park began with cocktails in the home team dugout and batting practice on the field followed by dinner in the President's Club.  It was an evening of fun with a bit of competition, both on and off the field, between batting, going head-to-head on video game consoles and outbidding one another in the silent auction.  To learn more about Horton's Kids, please visit www.hortonskids.org.

Beyond the Basics ...
Team Building
In addition to more traditional special events, meetings and conferences, we at L&A often create exciting and dynamic experiences for clients that encourage team building, problem solving, group participation and more.  Most recently, we partnered with CulinAire in Washington, DC to produce a Top Chef inspired evening for senior executives.  Complete with cocktails at Zentan and fierce but friendly competition in the kitchen at CulinAire, teams were judged by celebrity chefs including Carla Hall (a finalist in Top Chef, Season 5), Derek Brown (renowned mixologist and James Beard Award nominee) and Rock Harper (winner of Hell's Kitchen in Season 3).  To learn more about other exciting activities and team building events with L&A, contact us at info@linderassociates.com
